You Ask - I Answer
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Each session is 55 minutes in length.
WHAT KIND OF TECHNIQUES DO YOU USE?
I use a variety of techniques and tend to tailor the interventions I use to each individual, their concerns, and situation. The techniques I use depend on what I feel will work best for each person's personality, and what motivates them to change. I always operate under the Systems Theory which focuses on individuality as well as interpersonal connections such as family, peers, environments and community. My most frequently used techniques include Experiential, Solution-Focused, Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO MAKE CHANGES TO OR CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?
Please understand that not making a change to your appointment promptly can cause someone in dire need of the spot to have to go without. Because of this, I ask that you make changes or cancellations before 24 hours of your appointment.
HOW OFTEN DO I COME TO THERAPY?
Frequency of therapy sessions varies by clients needs. Typically, clients can expect to come to therapy either weekly or bi-weekly. During an Intake Session, frequency of appointments will be discussed, and this frequency can change depending on clients specific needs throughout treatment.
DO YOU CHARGE A CANCELLATION FEE?
Yes. You will be charged or billed a cancellation fee if you no-show or cancel your appointment less than 24 hours prior. Keep in mind that when you make an appointment that the time is blocked off for you, and many appointment times are filled weeks in advance (especially evening appointments). When someone doesn't make it to their appointment, it is not fair to the therapist or to the person who may be waiting for an appointment opening.
DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS?
As a therapist, I can't prescribe medication. Clients can see their primary care doctor, a psychiatrist, or a psychologist to have medications prescribed. If you are currently taking medication or are thinking about it, we can work with you on education and medication management techniques.
